About Katie Seremet, FNP
Integrative Family Nurse Practitioner in Maple Grove, MN
Hi, I’m Katie Seremet, a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with nearly 20 years of clinical experience. I provide integrative, relationship-based medical care for individuals and families seeking thoughtful, personalized support for long-term health and well-being.
I believe healthcare should feel calm, collaborative, and empowering, not rushed or transactional. My role is to help patients understand their bodies, navigate complex decisions, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
A Personal Health Journey That Shaped My Practice
I've practiced with an integrative lens for most of my career. But it wasn't until my own life brought me face-to-face with uncertainty that this work became deeply personal.
Shortly after the birth of my first child, I learned that I carry the BRCA1 gene mutation. I remember feeling like the rug had been pulled out from underneath me. I was terrified.
The conversations that followed focused primarily on cancer risk and the surgeries available to reduce that risk. While that information was important, I couldn't help but feel there was a missing piece.
At the time, I wasn't ready to undergo risk-reducing surgery. My husband and I hoped to have more children, and I wasn't prepared to make decisions that would permanently impact my body, fertility and hormones. I found myself living in the space between knowing my risk and feeling ready to take action.
No one was talking about how to navigate those years in between. No one was talking about the emotional weight of carrying that knowledge, the stress of ongoing surveillance, or how to support the body, mind, and nervous system while living with uncertainty. The focus was on minimizing risk of future disease, but very little attention was given to how to remain well in the present.
Years later, during a pregnancy, I experienced a stroke. Further testing revealed that I also carry the APOE4 gene. Once again, I found myself sitting across from experts, grateful for their knowledge but longing for a broader conversation. The message often felt like some version of: we'll monitor things, and if something happens, we'll address it.
I struggled with that.
I didn't want to spend my life waiting for the next crisis or living in fear of what might happen. That approach didn't align with how I understood health, healing, or the incredible capacity of the human body to adapt and recover.
So I did what I've always done. I got curious.
I immersed myself in learning everything I could about supporting health from a proactive, whole-person perspective. I explored the science of metabolic health, hormone balance, brain health, nervous system regulation, stress physiology, nutrition, movement, sleep, and resilience. I became fascinated by the ways our thoughts, emotions, relationships, and daily habits shape our long-term health. Most importantly, I deeply came to understand that if I didn't support my nervous system, my body would continue to carry the weight of chronic fear and uncertainty which would ultimately lead to disease.
What began as a search for answers became something much deeper.
The years between my diagnosis and eventual surgeries taught me some of the most important lessons of my life. I learned how to live with uncertainty without allowing it to define me. I learned how to care for my body while honoring my desire to grow my family. I learned that while we cannot change our genetics, we can influence how we live with them.
I also learned to trust myself.
To listen to my body. To honor both science and my intuition. To recognize that true health is about more than reducing risk or avoiding disease. It's about creating the conditions that allow us to thrive. It's about cultivating resilience, finding meaning, and living fully in the present rather than waiting for the next crisis.
These experiences profoundly shaped the way I practice medicine today.
They taught me that people need more than information. They need someone who can help them make sense of that information within the context of their lives. They need space to ask questions, process emotions, explore options, and feel empowered in their decisions. They need care that honors the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
My goal is not simply to help people manage disease or reduce risk. It's to help them understand their bodies, reconnect with their own inner wisdom, and feel supported as they navigate whatever season of life they're in.
Why This Matters
My journey taught me that health is never just about lab results or genetic risk—it’s about the whole person. Every patient deserves care that recognizes the connection between mind, body, and spirit and supports clarity, agency, and resilience.
Living with hereditary risks and past health events showed me how easy it is to feel overwhelmed, fearful, or out of control. It also showed me that with thoughtful guidance, evidence-informed strategies, and attention to both physical and emotional well-being, it is possible to live a meaningful, empowered life while managing risk.
This is the foundation of my practice. I help patients:
Understand their unique health picture without fear or overwhelm
Make informed choices that align with their values and long-term goals
Support their bodies naturally and holistically, complementing modern medicine
Build lasting resilience and vitality so health feels like a resource, not a source of anxiety
In short, I help patients live fully, not just survive. Your health decisions should support life, meaning, and confidence—not fear.
How I Approach Health and Whole-Person Care
I blend evidence-based medicine with integrative, nervous system–informed strategies to support balance, resilience, and long-term well-being. Patients often come to my practice feeling overwhelmed, unheard, or unsure of their next steps. My goal is to create space for clarity.
I take the time to listen, understand your history, and help you make sense of complex information so you can make informed decisions that align with your values and goals.
I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals with hereditary or genetic risk factors, including increased cancer or neurological risk, who want to optimize their health while maintaining balance and perspective. I love partnering with individuals who are committed to personal growth and want their healthcare to nurture not just the body, but their overall resilience, balance, and well-being.
Above all, my goal is to help you feel grounded, supported, and confident as you navigate your health journey.
Who I Work With and How I Support Patients
I believe healthcare works best when it is built on partnership, trust, and a genuine understanding of the whole person. My role is not simply to diagnose and prescribe, but to help you make sense of your health, understand your options, and feel empowered in the decisions you make.
I take the time to listen. Together, we'll explore not only your symptoms and medical history, but also the lifestyle, stressors, relationships, experiences, and patterns that may be influencing your health. By looking at the bigger picture, we can often uncover root causes and identify opportunities for healing that might otherwise be overlooked.
My approach combines evidence-based medicine with an integrative perspective. Depending on your needs, this may include addressing nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, hormone balance, nervous system regulation, emotional well-being, and other factors that contribute to long-term health. Every plan is personalized because no two people, and no two healing journeys, are exactly alike.
I see myself as both a guide and a partner in the process. I bring clinical expertise, curiosity, and compassion, while also honoring the fact that you are the expert on your own life and experiences. Together, we create realistic, sustainable strategies that support your goals and fit into your everyday life.
Above all, I strive to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported. Whether you're seeking answers to complex health concerns, navigating a life transition, optimizing your wellness, or simply looking for a provider who takes the time to see the whole you, my goal is to help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and trust in your body's capacity to heal.
